SAFED NZ truck instructors

SAFED NZ for trucks is always looking for driving instructors to add to its growing national network.

All instructors must have no more than three points on their driving licence and will not have had a driving ban within the last four years. Instructors should also have two years experience in driver training and ideally hold ‘I’ Endorsement. Additionally, all instructors must have a relevant licence for all trucks used.

How much does it cost to become a SAFED NZ instructor?

If you are not already an approved SAFED NZ Instructor or SAFED NZ Senior Instructor, you will need to undergo training with an approved SAFED NZ Senior Instructor.

There will be an initial one-off cost to undertake SAFED NZ Instructor training, which will be delivered by a SAFED NZ Senior Instructor. The cost of this training is purely a commercial arrangement between you and your SAFED NZ Senior Instructor.

What training is involved in becoming an instructor?

An experienced SAFED NZ Instructor will deliver training over two days. Training consists of a mix of on-the-road and classroom tuition including role play. As a trainee, you will be expected to:

  • achieve a ‘distinction’ grade in the one-day SAFED NZ driver training programme
  • fully understand the principles of SAFED NZ.

What do I need to do next?

Find a Senior Instructor. The Senior Instructor will be able to discuss your training needs and advise which programme best suits your needs.

Once the Ministry (or its appointee) has received a copy of your signed Deed and you have passed your training with distinction you will be provided with a certificate of achievement authorising you to deliver the SAFED NZ Driver course.

If you have any questions about the deed or becoming a SAFED NZ Driver Instructor please contact us.
